Surprise was named by it’s founder, Flora Mae Statler, who said she “would be surprised if the town ever amounted to much.” She would be amazed today as the city now has a population of over 115,000 people! Located just 45 minutes from downtown Phoenix, the city of Surprise is a great place to call home!

Parks and Recreation
Surprise Aquatics Center – The aquatics center is a great place to cool off during the summer and enjoy some time with your family! With one flume slide and one tunnel slide along with a zero depth pool with play features, there is something for everyone!
Surprise Community Park – A popular park with a fishing pond, gazebos, playgrounds and basketball courts and walking paths! Children can feed the ducks and play on the playground. There are also baseball fields, tennis and volleyball courts. They also don’t forget about our furry friends and have a special dog park for them to have fun too!
Local Attractions:
- Surprise Stadium – Home to Spring Training for the Texas Ranger and Kansas City Royals, this stadium was rated by Best of Phoenix, to be the best place to watch a Spring Training game! Opened in 2002, and with 10,000 spectator capacity, the award-winning stadium also hosts events throughout the year including Fourth of July celebrations, movie nights and other events!
